Author Roni Capin Rivera-Ashford

Roni Capin Rivera-Ashford is the author of Miguel and the Amazing Alebrijes, and she also collaborated on projects for the Pixar film “Coco.” She and her son, Aaron Rivera-Ashford worked on the film together as well as her latest book. Roni Capin Rivera-Ashford calls Tucson home.

Roni speaks Spanish and English, and she spent time as a bilingual pre-school and elementary teacher. She earned her Librarian’s Endorsement at the University of Arizona, and she taught night courses at Pima College Extension.

Her other published books are My Nana’s Remedies, Hip Hip Hooray, It’s Monsoon Day!, and My Tata’s Remedies.

Baseball Player George Arias

George Arias played baseball in the major leagues for six years. He played with the California Angels, San Diego Padres, and Japan’s Orix BlueWave. Meanwhile, he also spent plenty of time playing in the minor leagues with the Hanshin Tigers, Washington Nationals, and Yomiuri Giants. His love of the sport shows up in every part of his life.

Now living in Tucson, Arizona, George is the owner of the Centerfield Baseball & Softball Academy. As a teenager, he worked at a batting cage facility where he received his payment in cage time. He says it kept him off the street, and that’s why the Centerfield Baseball & Softball Academy is important to him. It’s a training facility where kids have a safe and fun place to train.

Cyclist Chad Beyer

A former professional road racing cyclist, Chad Beyer rode professionally for seven years. He rode with the BMC Racing Team, Competitive Cyclist Racing Team, Champion System, 5-hour Energy, Lupus Racing Team, and Hangar 15 Bicycles. During the 2010 Tour de Romandie, Chad won the Points Classification.

When Chad was ten, his family moved to Arizona. He loved riding BMX, and he spent a lot of time with friends and Valley cycling legend Domenic Malvestuto. Today, Chad lives in Tucson, Arizona.
